Alpacas for Sale & Servicing
Each year we offer a number of our breeding alpacas for sale as well as high quality wool wethers, and of course if you are looking to improve your own breeding stock, service to our SRS Stud Males. You will find that every single alpaca is backed up by real data and genetic information, giving you confidence in what you are buying. Our prices are not subjectively determined; they are based on data and facts.
With the purchase of any of our females we will offer a mating to one of our Stud Males. There are some exciting prospects on our list, just check out the genetics. We are happy to discuss and help with any breeding questions you may have.
Situated in the Hawkesbury District NSW, we offer special packages for new breeders, which would include a number of females with matings to one of our 4 stud males - all SRS tested (see Walkley Field Isandro's SRS test as an example - click here). We can offer advice and help on breeding, husbandry, and farm set-up.
We also have a number of animals suitable as pets or guards (halter trained). Because we are a small stud our animals are used to human interaction, and as a result they are very calm and friendly.

The SRS® breeding system, developed by Dr. Jim Watts in the 1980s, has
been used successfully to improve fleece quantity and quality in
Merino sheep and Angora goats by selecting for increased fibre density
and fibre length. If an animal grows more fibres (density) and if
those fibres are longer, then it will produce more weight of fleece.
The higher density also reduces the mean fibre diameter and the
variation in fibre diameter of the fleece. More recently, these
selection techniques have been used successfully by alpaca breeders to
improve fleece quantity and quality whilst moving rapidly towards
eliminating "guard hair".
Every year Walkley Fields submits all the genetic traits of each of our individual alpacas to the Alpaca Association. Genetic factors are very important in determining breeding improvement, and different alpacas vary in their ability to deliver genetic improvement to their offspring.
